I’m always curious to know the reasons a person plays golf, especially if they have high ambitions for becoming a great golfer. The answers are usually that they want to join their workmates, friends, family members or partner. Occassionally they are playing just for themselves. Regardless of who you are playing for or your motivation to play, it is extremely powerful to be accountable to at least one person…someone who understands the reasons why you are looking to improve, what you are committing to and then holds you accountable for acting on those committments.
There are going to be more days where you don’t feel particularly like putting in the practice time and effort that you said you would. Those are the days when you need a push, because for every one of those days you miss, your progress is delayed by one more day. At the end of a month or year, you will have forgotten the number of days that you practiced even though you didnt’ feel like it, however you will still have gained the benefits of all that training.
There are a lot of legitimate reasons for missing a training session; “I didn’t feel ike it” is never one of them!
