This is the first of three videos which show essential components of making square solid contact with the golf ball. I can’t overstate the importance of doing a lot of the drill in this video as it will help enormously with you reducing your hand action – most of which is unnecessary anyway. It will also encourage as slight descending blow at impact, something you need for all shots where the ball is sitting on the ground.
If you are struggling with this drill, then make hitting these short shots at least 50% of your practice. Once you are able to make consistently good contact, then reduce it to around 5-10% of your practice.
This drill is also an excellent one to warm up with as it requires you to sequence your body, arm and club movement, even with a short swing at low speed.
