Does the thought of taking a year off as part of preparation for and Olympic gold medal or World Championship performance scare you? It did me. But that is exactly what James Tomkins did after each Olympic campaign. The result was three Olympic gold and one bronze medals together with seven World Championship gold medals.
Listen to this interview with James as he talks about dealing with huge expectations and pressure, why he describes himself as a lazy trainer. No I didn’t believe that either, especially as he described really tough training sessions he and the team did in Italy.
His philosophy on preparation, gaining confidence and constant improvement are a great template for sport, school, business and life.
